Marcos Smyth

Large scale ephemeral work has been my focus for the last few years, in outdoor settings. These are site specific sculptures using materials available on site. Biodegradable sisal twine is the only additional material used for some binding. Time lapse photography and video documentation preserve the works after they have been absorbed back into the environment. Of late, I have begun using stone setting jewelry techniques to mount stones and glass on wood, creating environmental relics in my studio. Metal work is another area of interest and past experience for me and will be a pursuit going forward in my new studio.
