10th Anniversary Exhibition

ARTINA 2026: Ripples of Ten Years, an annual outdoor sculpture exhibition on the Sandy Spring Museum’s grounds organized in partnership with the Washington Sculptors Group, will be on view from September 20 to November 8, 2026. The museum grounds are open to the public daily from dawn till dusk. Admission is free. Self-guiding maps of the exhibition will be available onsite at Sandy Spring Museum as well as the museum’s and Washington Sculptor’s Group websites.
Participating Artists: Esperanza Alzona, Sally Canzoneri, Frederic Crist, Billy Friebele, Xiang Gu, Raina Hatcher, Sanzi Kermes, Anna Kekesi-Kim, Jean Kim, Addison Likins, Carolina Mayorga, Hijo Nam, Eugene Provenzo, Sarah Jane Rodman, Daniel Shay, Tatyana Shramko, and Barbara Ziselberger.
All participating artists are members of the Washington Sculptors Group.
This is the tenth edition of ARTINA. For the last decade since 2016, ARTINA has transformed the Sandy Spring Museum’s outdoor spaces into sites of encounter, discovery, and reflection.
Artina 2026, Ripples of Ten Years, celebrates that history while looking forward. Sculptures by seventeen artists fabricated with a variety of media will be installed around the museum’s seven-acre site. The exhibition was juried by Maria Gabriela “Gaby” Mizes, a Maryland-based independent curator.. Artists were invited through an open call to submit work to create a living, dynamic landscape — ever-changing with sunlight, weather, and the movement of visitors.
Artists responded to the call for entries with works that use a wide range of materials - metal, wire, wood, paper, bamboo, acrylic mirrors, and fabric. Some works were designed specifically for the site, to create a unique visitor experience. Others respond to the museum’s grounds, moving in the wind and reflecting changing light patterns. The exhibition offers viewers opportunities to experience each piece in different ways while moving throughout the outdoor spaces of the Sandy Spring Museum. Sculptural materials create ephemeral, mutable experiences, echoing a decade of the evolving engagement with the site, while suggesting possibilities beyond the present moment.
The ARTINA exhibition series, now in its 10th year, is an ongoing partnership between Washington Sculptors Group and the Sandy Spring Museum that invites social engagement with the environment through participation and collaboration. Artists are encouraged to envision interactions in the museum’s landscape by engaging visually and physically with nature.
