Professional artists and educators, Eric Celarier and Wilfredo Valladares, will present fundamental advice for organizing emerging careers in the world of art. New artists are presented with challenges that do not always lend themselves to easy answers. Questions often haunt newcomers, such as how does one approach a gallery or what do curators want to see in an artist statement. While there are not always definitive answers to these questions, there are sensible courtesies and conventions that everyone in the art world should know and follow that will increase the chances of success for beginning professionals. Failure to adhere to these principles can harm the efforts of even the best creators. In this workshop, we will discuss:
- What jurors expect to see before you send in the next application
- How to find and contact an audience
- How to explore where and how to exhibit your work
While there are no hard and fast rules, there are ways to be more effective about how artists integrate with the community. We would love to share with you what we, as professionals, have learned.
Artistas y Educadores, Eric Celarier y Wilfredo Valladares, presentaran información y consejos fundamentales acerca de carreras emergentes dentro del mundo del Arte. Usualmente al principio de una Carrera artística se presentan retos complejos que requieren ciertos conocimientos y destrezas. Por ejemplo, aveces surgen preguntas referentes a: Comó puedo establecer conexiones con galerías, Comó escribir una declaración artística y que elementos cautivan a un curador de arte. Aunque no siempre se encuentran respuestas definitivas a estas preguntas, normalmente existen cortesías sensatas, normas que son aceptadas y practicadas dentro del mundo del arte. Artistas profesionales principiantes que emplean estos conocimientos en general suelen sobresalir.
En este taller vamos a discutir lo siguiente:
- Que espera ver un jurado de arte antes de enviar su próxima aplicación
- Comó encontrar, contactar la audiencia
- Comó explora donde y comó exhibir obras de arte
Mientras no hay reglas duras ni rápidas, siempre se encuentran formas efectivas en como integrarse a la comunidad. Nos gustaría compartir con ustedes nuestra experiencia y valor profesional dentro de las artes.
