After nearly 50 years in architecture, Thierry Rosenheck turned to art as the medium of self-expression he could not find in architecture. Along the way, re-thinking his work with the camera he created what he now coins performance photography.’ And in other stints, he collaborated with artists to stage dance performances and create plaster cast sculptures. A short jig as studio assistant to Washington artist Leon Berkowitz motivated him to consider becoming an artist. All in all, between his experience with Leon and his collaborations with dancers and artists John Bailey and Beth Burkhardt, he became convinced to take the plunge of becoming an artist.

Thierry attributes kinetic play to create his performance photography. He finds that new meaning - both explicit and implicit provides him a road map for his quests. He tests the relationships between objective, abstract and expressionist representation. Thierry has gravitated to sculpting because of an innate feeling he has constructing and exploring in three dimensions. He took up metal out of curiosity and has been enamored by the conversation he has with his sculptures.
