At its core, my work is a response to my day-to-day observations and interactions with others as well as the impressions I form from reading online news feeds. By translating these observations, interactions, and impressions into sculptural art forms, I feel I am better able to order my world and my understanding of it while also voicing my thoughts and opinions. Working primarily in sculptural mixed media constructions, I look for the quiet beauty in ordinary objects and to show how these objects can be used to connect us to a larger world by taking on metaphorical significance.
Retired after 24 years of teaching, I divide my time between working in my studio, rehabbing my 1863 log home, and spending time with my grandchildren. I received my MFA from Towson University in 2000 and I’m currently a member of NOMA Gallery in Frederick, MD.
