Farrokh Jalinoos is a Washington, DC–based sculptor whose work explores structure, material, transformation, and the relationship between the built and natural environments. Working primarily with steel and concrete, he incorporates structural materials, reinforcement steel, weathered surfaces, and constructed forms into abstract and figurative sculpture. His artistic practice is informed by a long career as a research engineer specializing in developing technologies for inspection of built structures. Farrokh brings an understanding of materials, structural behavior, and construction processes to an artistic practice focused on transforming functional materials into expressive forms.
