In conjunction with the Washington Sculptors Group exhibition Critical Ground: Art and Environmental Justice, instructor Marcie Wolf-Hubbard will conduct a hands-on workshop for all ages on Creating Relief with Nature, exploring relief techniques inspired by nature. Learn how she creates dimension in her artwork, then design your own birds and natural forms in 3D. Open to all ages and skill levels. No previous experience necessary. Admission is free. Marcie Wolf Hubbard is a mixed media and encaustic artist whose work combines collage, drawing, and sculptural construction to explore memory, architecture, and the natural world. Her layered surfaces and small-scale structures merge painting and collage with relief and assemblage, extending two-dimensional processes into space.
Her work has been exhibited widely on the East Coast and has been supported by numerous grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County, including residencies, project grants, and professional development awards. She is a recipient of the Nancy Frankel Artist Award.
Hubbard teaches workshops and classes at Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts & Culture, Yellow Barn Studio & Gallery, and Smithsonian Associates. She is a member of Washington Sculptors Group and Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic.
