This series of sculptures portray our phycological experience of powerlessness, to have accessibility, an invitation, but ultimately denial—the sense of acceptance, of inclusion but a limitation on both. The bronze components depict a feeling of frustration and shame, falling short, exclusion, rejection, and supplication. They characterize the experience of only getting so far or more pointedly having known the feeling of being held back and deterred. The marble elements become barriers; they illustrate the force of authority and domination of institutional judgment and events beyond our control to overcome.
